About Ana

Hi, I'm Ana!
And I'm so glad to have you here. You might be surprised to hear that I am actually a Brazilian plant biologist turned fibre artist. I was born in Rio de Janeiro & I am passionate about nature, its forms and all the phenomena that relate to it. In 2020, I combined my work as a biology teacher and researcher with the study of arts. I fell in love with working with textile art and all the creative possibilities it gives me.
When I moved to Sweden, I was impressed by the landscapes and how nature changes according to the seasons - Brazil and its tropical climate have two well-defined seasons. I found it interesting to note how the changes in the environment regulate and relate to Swedes' behaviour and traditions. I then decided to incorporate all this observations into my artwork. My pieces are influenced by the seasons, and you can clearly see Scandinavian minimalism in some of them and tropical colours and joy in others.
Besides nature, history and architecture are two other passions of mine. I find it fantastic to spend long hours listening to someone talk about their life, their thoughts, places, and memories. I've combined all of this into one of the atelier's most famous projects: the textile houses. In them, I bring stories, memories, people, and moments to life. It's something totally special, unique, transformative, and that brings me a lot of joy every day.
In April 2024, my family and I choose our place in Sweden: Sankt Olof, a calm village with lush nature in the heart of Österlen. Here, I am able to turn a great dream into reality: to have a workspace combined with a store, where people can stop by, touch the pieces, discover the materials I use, get to know the production processes behind each piece and get inspired by a cozy studio. This is how Ana Viveiros atelier was proudly born.
Since then, I have opened the doors of my atelier every week and have the pleasure of meeting, welcoming and talking to incredible people. If you would like to check the atelier's opening schedule, please tap here:
